Music at AHUMC

Arlington Heights UMC is blessed with a rich music ministry, and our groups always welcome new members! If you are interested in participating in one of these musical ensembles, please contact:

  • Chancel Choir

Under the direction of Dr. Jolene Webster, the Chancel Choir provides music for both sanctuary services. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Choir members enjoy preparing additional performances year-round, including Handel's "Messiah," a yearly Dinner Theatre, a Pops Concert, and special music during Lent.

  • Bell Conte Ringers

An accomplished bell choir, the Bell Conte ringers provide music for Sanctuary worship throughout the year, as well as significant concerts in May and December ("Carols by Candlelight"). Choir members also enjoy ringing in the community, including providing special music for the Christmas party at Jo Kelly School every year.

  • Junior Choir

Under the direction of Tani Simons, our Children's Choir (K-3) and Jr. Choir (4-6) provide music in worship throughout the school year. Junior Choir members are leaders in this program, and earn speaking parts and solos in choir musicals (December and April). Jr. Choir members meet from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (September-April). All are welcome!

  • Children's Choir

In Children's Choir, our youngest members learn child-friendly theology as they gain biblical literacy (and musical techniques) through song! Crafts and games are also part of their rehearsal time (4-4:50 p.m. Sundays, September-April). Children's & Jr. Choirs sing together in worship during the school year and perform a musical in December and May. All are welcome to participate!

  • Instrumentalists & Soloists

AHUMC invites instrumentalists, soloists and small ensembles to provide music occasionally in worship, as well as special noon concerts during Lent and Advent. If you play an instrument and would like to share your gift with the church, please contact Laurie Meek so you can be added to our list of instrumentalists.
