Rev. Mary Spradlin

Senior Pastor

Rev. Mary has served as Senior Pastor since June of 2011, having previously served St. Stephen UMC in Arlington and FUMC Hurst. She has an M.Div. from Perkins School of Theology at SMU and loves preaching and teaching the Bible. Mary is married to David, and they have two children: Hallie Grace and Thomas.

Rev. Dr. Jim Pledger

Associate Pastor: Stewardship, Church Development, Service Matters, Welcoming Ministries

Dr. Pledger joined AHUMC staff in 2013. He had previously served as senior pastor at FUMC Sherman. Dr. Pledger and his wife, Kay, enjoy playing with their grandchildren.

Rev. Allen Lutes

Associate Pastor: Missions and Five and Two Food Truck Ministry

Allen is a graduate of Brite Divinity School and is in the process for ordination as a Deacon in the UMC. He and his wife Lynaia have been members at AHUMC for over 10 years. Allen's call to ministries of justice, particularly in the area of feeding others, is fueled by his experience as a chef and former restauranteur. In addition to general pastoral responsibilities, Allen works at AHUMC in the areas of Missions and oversees our Five & Two Food Truck Ministry. Allen and Lynaia have two sons: Gabe and Caden.

Rev. Corey Hatcher

Associate Pastor

Corey is a student at Perkins School of Theology-- Southern Methodist University pursuing his M.Div. and is in the process for ordination as an Elder in the UMC. He joins AHUMC after serving a year as Senior Pastor at a two-point charge in Bryson and Perrin. Before moving to North Texas, Corey worked in North West Texas as a youth minister for 2.5 years at Abernathy FUMC. Corey enjoys being outdoors and especially loves talking and reading theology and Lord of the Rings, flower gardening, fishing and hiking.

Dr. Steve Simons

Director of Chancel Choir

Steve has served as Chancel Choir Director since 2002. Worship services, plus special concerts and other programs throughout the year make for a most active choir ministry. Steve is married to Tani, and they are blessed with three wonderful children, as well as their children's spouses and seven grandsons are also active members at AHUMC.

Steve recently retired as Professor of Music at Texas Wesleyan University, where he taught for nearly 40 years.

Tani Simons

Director of Children's Choirs

Tani Simons has worked with children’s choirs for 38 years, and been director of the Children’s and Junior Choirs at Arlington Heights UMC since 2004. She has a master's degree in education with a minor in music, and is currently an elementary principal at the Academy at Nola Dunn in Burleson. She is married to Steve, has three children, and seven awesome grandsons.

Frank Shroyer

Director of Handbells and Worship Arts

Frank Shroyer was invited to create an advanced handbell choir at AHUMC in 2008, having previously served as Director of Music Ministries at University United Methodist in Fort Worth. Frank has undergraduate degress in music and theater from Fairmont State University, as well as a MA in theater. He has previously worked at Canterbury UMC in Houston, the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel and Towers in NYC, and Columbia Artist Management.

Frank lives in the Arlington Heights neighborhood with "the girls" -- two minature Dachhunds named Coco and Sugar.

Alan Kerr


Bradley joins our staff with a passion for partnering with youth and parents to do ministry together for the furthering of God's kingdom. He has been in youth ministry for 10+ years and is currently working on receiving his Youth Ministry Certification from the United Methodist Church and a Masters in Youth Ministry from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. Bradley also is an aspiring writer, who blogs regularly at

Bradley is married to Rev. Amy Forsythe-Alexander who serves as the Pastor of Discipleship at Acton United Methodist Church. Bradley loves all kinds of music, but really loves Jazz.

Gwen Patteson has served as Administrative Assistant since 1998. She and her husband, Bernard have been members since 1970. They have raised four children at Arlington Heights UMC, and they have four grandchildren.

Anne has been Director of Mildred Haupt since 2000. She has a degree from College of the Ozarks in Child Psychology and minor in Child Development. Prior to working here at AHUMC, she was a Director for The Children’s Courtyard for seven years. She is married to Craig and they have two sons, Jonathan and Ryan.

Rick Trevino

Building Steward

Rick has served on AHUMC staff since 2001. He is married to Paula, and together they have three grown children. In his spare time, Rick enjoys playing the drums and mastering his XBox skills.

Paula Trevino

Building Steward

Paula has served on AHUMC staff since 2002. She is married to Rick and is grandmother to countless grandkids. In her spare time, Paula enjoys crafting and watching NCIS.

Monica Kintigh

Adjunct Staff Member/Licensed Professional Counselor

Monica Kintigh, PhD, LPC has 34 years professional experience as therapist, educator, trainer, and consultant. She has special interest in stress management, coping with depression/anxiety, grief counseling, relationship enhancement, communication, and suicide intervention. Dr. Kintigh has experience with adults, college students, adolescents, children, couples, and groups. She serves our congregation as an adjunct counselor offering her services to AHUMC referrals at a reduced rate. You may contact her free of charge for a brief phone consultation.
