Mobile Food Bank

Food Desert: Noun. An urban area in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food.

This definition comes from the USDA, and there are many such deserts in Fort Worth. Our neighbors in Como live in such a food desert. Because of this, AHUMC is partnering with the Tarrant Area Food Bank to help support a mobile food pantry in the neighborhood.

On the third Friday of each month, volunteers from AHUMC will join with others to operate this mobile food pantry to provide fresh and healthy food options to hundreds of families. This is a “client choice, no restriction” food pantry. The Monday morning men’s prayer breakfast group is generously providing the funds to help support this ministry, but volunteers are needed! There is something for everyone to do. For more information, contact Rev. Allen Lutes at
