Recovery and Support
Arlington Heights UMC hosts the Camp Bowie Women's Group on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. (topic discussion) and Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. (12 steps/literature discussion) in the Library. These closed meetings are for any women who have a problem, or think they might have a problem, with alcohol. Click here for more information on AA.
We also host an Al-Anon group (Anchor AFG) that meets in our church Library at noon on Mondays, Wedensdays and Fridays. Click here for more information.
Stephen Ministry - Stephen Ministers are trained and supervised lay persons, called Stephen Ministers, provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges or difficulties. It began nationally in 1975 and today more than 9,000 congregations from over 90 denominations participate. Stephen Ministers participate in 50 hours of training in caregiving, including general topics such as listening, feelings, boundaries, assertiveness, and using community and Christian resources in caregiving.
